Limestone
Handling Systems
Limestone systems are a
very important part of today's fluid bed boilers. Limestone (sorbent)
is injected into the fluid bed boiler to aid in removal of SO2 and reducing
plant emissions. BCP can provide entire limestone handling systems,
system retrofits, system expansions and system field support for your existing
limestone handling system.
The illustration above reflects
the basic design of a typical limestone transfer system. Wheather
limestone is prepared on-site or trucked in, limestone is generally stored
in a main storage silo and then pneumatically conveyed to a smaller day
bin local to the boiler. The motive air for the system is a positive
displacement blower. A rotary airlock valves below the silo is used
to meter limestone into the conveying air stream. Limestone is blown
directly into the top of the day bin. Final air filtration is done
via the bin vent filter.

for the system is a positive displacement blower. A rotary airlock
valve below the silo is used to meter limestone into the conveying air
stream at varying rates governed by plant stack emission requirements.
Limestone is blown directly into the fluid bed boiler. Larger boilers
require multiple injection points. This requires the flow to be split
by using a line splitter.
